Suffice it to say that my son has not embraced the challenges of learning to read and write with vigor. Children are quite complex when it comes to how they choose to learn. Barbara has a way of framing challenges with an honesty that children respect, understand and respond to. It isn’t about doing things because she said so or to please her—it is about cultivating a genuine willingness that comes from the child. Her approach has worked for my son and it has been amazing to see how my son has grown under her tutelage. The days he goes to see Barbara are fondly referred to in our house as ‘Barbara Days’ and the mention of them always elicits joy and happiness. We are forever grateful.
